PADI Courses and experiences with Mermaids

Lots of Discover Scuba Diving happening in May and congrats to all divers who finished their PADI courses. A special mention to Emily Malinen, who after completing 2 Bubblemakers with us, and waiting to reach the age of 10 passed her Junior Open Water Course. Also completing her Junior Open Water was Alia Brinn. Welcome to the world of diving girls.

Ruaamy deserves a special mention, she was so excited to book her Open Water Course with us at Dive Expo, she even came down to Pattaya and completed it the very next week.

Mermaids Divers

1^st May saw Team Japan meeting up and having an awesome day of diving on Mermaids 4. We welcomed back members some original members of the team who travelled over from Japan just for the long weekend and of course to come diving with Mermaids. We Love Team Japan!

Mermaids Professional Courses

Congratulations to Marcus Foster, Mark Finnemore and Nadia Ablett on their completing their PADI Divemaster Courses. Welcome to the professional world of diving.  Next up – IDC. Pascal Keller completed his five PADI Specialty Instructor Ratings and Danny Burns finished up the Master Scuba Diver Trainer course. Well done Danny, see you next time for IDC Staff.

Instructor Examinations

Congratulations to Mermaids latest PADI Open Water Scuba Instructors, Rob, Alexa, Courtney and Sam who completed their Examinations with PADI Examiner Rob Scammell on the 7^th May. The awesome group whizzed their way through the 2 days with some amazing scores.

Congratulations to Steve on achieving your IDC Staff rating. Well done to Russell Martin, your favorite PADI Platinum Course Director and his team, Jim, Josh O and Nathan for their hard work and dedication.

Coral Conservation

A great meeting with the Patana Marine Conservation Group on Monday 19^th May at Bangkok Patana School, where the committee and Mermaids discussed plans for coral conservation initiatives for the new academic year.

Thailand Dive Expo

TDEX 2014 was a fabulous show with over 100,000 visitors this year, thanks for coming along to see Mermaids at our booth. Many of you took advantage of our show specials this year and we look forward to teaching your PADI courses or joining us for fun diving.

PADI News

PADI announced their list of Elite Instructor Awards for 2013 and congrats to Russell Martin, Mermaids PADI Platinum Course Director for receiving his award for more than 150 certifications. Also receiving their Elite Instructor Awards for more than 50 certifications are Mermaids Instructors – Chris Wake, Gordon Rimmer, Wayne Carr and Nok (Dhanaya Ketsathian)

Mermaids were at the PADI Business Academy on the 20^th and 21^st May, keeping up to date with the latest PADI marketing campaigns in Asia Pacific.

Fun Times

The social BBQ took a Mexican theme on Saturday 31^st May, with Tex Mex Burgers and Margaritas. Any suggestions you would like to see for a themed BBQ night, please let us know.

What’s Happening in June at Mermaids

Mermaids Appreciation Day is on Saturday 21^st June, this is a thanks to you, our customers for your fantastic support. Join us for a double Hin Chalam dive day for only 1,500 baht per person including equipment if you need it. Lunch will be served on the boat and then our fun social BBQ will be ready for you at the center when you return. This trip is subject to weather conditions with alternative dive sites in place.

PADI Instructor Development Course starts with Russell Martin, PADI Platinum Course Director on 21^st June. Book your space now and join the professional world of diving.

Mermaids is hosting Regents International School ‘s Outdoor program over 4 days with 25 children plus staff of all ages on each day joining us for Discover Snorkeling and Sea Survival Training Skills.

Bangkok Patana School is coming down to Pattaya for their annual Clean Up the Reef Day on the 24^th June. This is the 5^th year for the event and we are looking forward to seeing old and meeting new friends.
