Regents School Learn About Sea Survival
Regents International School held their Outdoor Activity Days. During the sessions the Regents students learnt about the workings of a boat, discovered snorkeling as well as safety, drifting at sea and other sea survival skills. Well done to the 120 students that took part over the 4 days.
Bangkok Patana Cleans Up for The 5th Year
Getting in their annual clean up day at Koh Sak before going on holidays, we welcomed back 30 students and teachers from Bangkok Patana School. This is the 5th consecutive year and always great to see enthusiastic cleaners in action with the Mermaids Team.
Top of the trash list was polystyrene and plastic bags and bottles, but we are happy to be making a difference, no matter how small. Don’t forget that you can also help to do this on our annual International Clean Up Day on September 20th.
Living Life as a Diver for a Week
We welcomed Pang Thawornwong from St Andrew International School to Mermaids for her work experience week. Here’s what she had to say:
“Today is my last day at Mermaids Dive Centre and I honestly don’t want to leave, it’s been such an amazing experience and I have had so many good memories with all the devoted and loving staff. I am honestly going to miss being here because its only been 5 days but I feel so comfortable with them and they almost feel like family now ♡ I am definitely going to keep in touch with them and I am doing my open water course with them so I will be able to see them again I am very thankful and I appreciated every moment being here and I will always remember the memories and the people here”
Since then Pang has logged 7 dives with Mermaids Dive Center and will complete her PADI Open Water Course in the holidays coming up soon.
Japanese Course Director Joins the Team
We welcomed Morihiko Saito to the Mermaids Dive Team as PADI Course Director on the 11th June 2014.
Mori was born in Yokohoma, Japan in 1980 and started diving at the age of 20, even though he was a non-swimmer. He became a PADI Instructor in 2004 and carries on his diving passion to his students and fellow divers.
Sheena Walls, General Manager of Mermaids Dive Center said, “We are excited to have Mori as a member of our team. Japanese divers are a huge part of the Mermaids family and he will be able to continue their diving education and experiences in their own language”
Welcome to the team Mori!

Some great diving out at the Pattaya Far Islands and Samaesan despite the stormy weather we experienced. Tourists from India, Singapore and China discovered scuba diving and Open Water Courses still took place. A friendly turtle was happy to see our divers and we got some amazing marine life shots.

Regents School is Back for More
Following the successful Regents International School Outdoor Activity Days, we are hosting a boat and beach day for 30 students to experience snorkeling and the local beaches of Pattaya.
Some students have no experience in swimming or snorkeling, so this is a great day for Mermaids to show them how to build their confidence in the water.
